About Me Awww... shucks... do I HAVE to talk about ME??... hmmm... okay. I'm a mischievous pixy who's lived 184 seasons. I like live music, laughter, and any opportunity to have a little fun! Truly... I'm suffering from a major case of "Peter Pan Syndrome". I don't wanna grow up! (and it shows) Most things about my mundane life you'll learn with ease as you get to know me... I'm pretty open about most things... but the first thing you'll realize is that I'm always looking for the next bit of fun and excitement! I co-direct a youth leadership organization for teens, and head up the quality management and special operations department for a metal parts fabrication business. I love meeting new people and embarking on new adventures! I'm a firm believer in Balance...in life, love, work, family, relationships, and faith. I believe that we mere mortals have more control over our lives than we excercise, and that if we truly choose to, we can make the world a better place, even if it's only our immediate surroundings. I enjoy spending time in book shops, theaters, concerts, rennaisance or fantasy faires, pirate festivals, chili cookoffs, or any other venue where the gathering is aimed at food, fun, and fellowship! I have a soft spot in my heart for animals (even the two-legged kind), and am often found taking in strays (yes, sometimes even the two-legged kind). I like role playing games, mystery stories, puzzle books, fairies, frogs, dragons, and good conversation. You can win my deepest affection with premium chocolate, or a perfectly blended long island iced tea. Drop me a line... let's get aquainted!

I've never really been an extrovert...

Friday, June 13, 2008, 05:50 PM PST [General]

A little over a month ago, I lost someone I considered to be my best friend.  I'm not sure he even knew that was how I thought of him.  He was my brother.  Not in flesh or law, but in spirit.  He will be forever missed in my heart and life.

I've not posted much about how his death has impacted me.  I didn't even leave a comment in his obituary guest book.  I've not written any "memorials" on his myspace page, nor have I put my fingers to the keyboard to console or comfort those others closest to him.  I can't totally explain why.   I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that (like he often was) I am reticent to expose my inner-most feelings to the scrutiny of others.  Not that I care that much how they view them... but more that it really just isn't their concern.  I deal with my emotions in my own ways, and in my own time.  It isn't always obvious to the casual observer that I'm dealing with anything significant at all.  I really am NOT an extrovert.  Some things are my own, and they will stay that way.  There are far fewer people in this world who truly know me than there are who think they do. Now, there's even one less.  If I have seemed distant recently, please forgive me.

Thank you to those who have expressed sympathy.  It is appreciated, and your prayers of support for Jazz's family are most welcomed and valued.

To my brother, whom I will never forget... Your presence in my life was worth more than I can easily express.  Your kindness and generosity, your humor, your honesty, and your friendship are prized possessions in my treasure hoard.  You are a jewel that I will wear in my crown, forever, and ever.

Thank you, Jazz, for being mine for a time.

Texan Rennies??? are you out there?

Thursday, February 21, 2008, 04:59 PM PST [General]

I'm SO excited to be going back home to Texas for Scarborough Faire in April.

I've only been to Scarborough once (about 11 or 12 years ago), and it's definately a faire that sticks in your memory.

I'd love to be able to connect with other "Rennies" who will be attending Scarborough when I will be there (April 25th - 26th).  If any of you locals down there would like to give me tips on good shows or vendors or "must-do" activities... I'd welcome the input!  I'd also love a chance to get together for a face-to-face hello and maybe lift a pint with ye!
